Aurora stores the following information only on your device using AsyncStorage (React Native's local storage):

No Cloud Backup

Aurora does not provide cloud backup or sync features. Your data exists only on your device.

Important: If you uninstall the app or lose your device, your data will be permanently lost. We cannot recover it.

Data Retention and Deletion

How Long Data is Kept

Your data is stored on your device indefinitely until you:

  1. Delete individual entries within the app
  2. Uninstall the app (deletes all app data)
  3. Clear app data through device settings

How to Delete Your Data

You have complete control over your data:

Option 1: Delete Individual Entries

  • Mood entries: Long-press → Delete
  • Journal entries: Swipe left → Delete
  • Tasks: Swipe left → Delete

Option 2: Delete All App Data

  • iOS: Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Aurora → Delete App
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Aurora → Storage → Clear Data

Option 3: Uninstall the App

  • Deleting the app permanently removes all stored data

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Aurora is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

No Age Verification Required: Since we don't collect any personal information, we cannot verify user ages.

Parental Guidance: Parents should supervise their children's app usage and be aware that:

  • The app contains mental health and emotional wellness content
  • Content may not be suitable for young children
  • No account is required, so parental controls are device-level only

If You Are a Parent: If you believe your child has used the app and you want to delete their data, simply uninstall the app from their device.

Your Privacy Rights

Security

How We Protect Your Data

Since all data is stored locally on your device, security depends on your device's security measures:

Recommended Protections:

  • Enable device passcode/biometric lock
  • Keep your device software updated
  • Don't share your device with others
  • Use device encryption (enabled by default on modern devices)

What We Do:

  • Store data using AsyncStorage (React Native secure storage)
  • No network transmission of your personal data
  • No cloud vulnerabilities (because there's no cloud)

What We Don't Do:

  • We don't encrypt data beyond device-level encryption
  • We don't provide password protection within the app
  • We don't offer biometric app locks (rely on device security)

Data Loss Prevention: ⚠️ We cannot recover lost data. Please back up your device regularly using your device's native backup features (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.).
