Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Aurora ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

What is Aurora?

Aurora is a free, offline emotional wellness and healing companion app designed to help you:

✅ Track your mood and emotional patterns ✅ Journal your thoughts and feelings ✅ Monitor your recovery progress ✅ Complete daily self-care tasks ✅ Support your healing journey

Important: Aurora is a wellness tool, NOT medical treatment, therapy, or mental health care. See "Medical Disclaimer" section below.

Acceptance of Terms

How You Accept These Terms

By using Aurora, you explicitly agree to these Terms. No signup or account creation is required, so your use of the app constitutes acceptance.

Who Can Use Aurora

You may use Aurora if:

✅ You are 13 years or older ✅ You are legally able to agree to these Terms ✅ You are not prohibited by law from using the App

Parental Consent: If you are between 13-17 years old, you should have your parent or guardian review these Terms with you.

Under 13: Aurora is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.

License to Use Aurora

What We Grant You

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

✅ Download and install Aurora on your personal device ✅ Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes ✅ Access all features included in the App

What You Cannot Do

You agree NOT to:

❌ Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App ❌ Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App ❌ Rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the App ❌ Remove copyright or proprietary notices ❌ Use the App for any illegal purpose ❌ Interfere with the App's operation or security ❌ Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App ❌ Use the App in any way that could harm us or other users

Privacy and Data

Your Data Belongs to You

Aurora is designed with privacy-first architecture:

✅ 100% Offline - All data stays on your device ✅ No Account Required - No signup, login, or authentication ✅ No Tracking - We don't track your usage ✅ No Cloud Sync - Your data never leaves your device

What This Means

We cannot access your data (mood, journal entries, tasks)
We cannot recover lost data if you uninstall the app
We cannot provide cloud backup or sync across devices
You are responsible for backing up your device to prevent data loss

You will not rely on Aurora as medical treatment
You understand the app is for educational and self-care purposes only

Disclaimer of Warranties

"AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE"

AURORA IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We make NO WARRANTIES that:

The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
Defects will be corrected
The App is free from viruses or harmful components
The App will meet your specific needs
Results from using the App will be accurate or reliable

No Professional Advice Warranty

We do not warrant that:

App content is medically accurate
Journaling prompts are suitable for your situation
Self-care tasks are appropriate for your needs
The App will improve your mental health

You use Aurora at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

No Liability for Damages

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF AURORA, including but not limited to:

❌ Direct damages (data loss, device damage) ❌ Indirect damages (emotional distress, lost opportunities) ❌ Medical outcomes (worsening mental health, missed diagnoses) ❌ Personal injury (self-harm, suicide attempts) ❌ Economic losses (lost wages, medical bills)

Maximum Liability Cap

IF WE ARE FOUND LIABLE DESPITE THE ABOVE DISCLAIMER, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO $0.00 (because the App is free).

Your Acknowledgment

By using Aurora, you acknowledge that:

You assume all risks of using the App
You will not hold us responsible for any negative outcomes
You will seek professional help for serious mental health concerns
You understand we are not mental health professionals

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

Your use of Aurora
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any third-party rights
Any content you create or store in the App
Any harm caused by your reliance on the App

Example: If you rely on Aurora instead of seeking therapy and suffer harm, you agree not to sue us.

Intellectual Property

Our Ownership

Aurora and all its components are owned by Ümit Uz and protected by:

Copyright - All code, design, and content
Trademark - Aurora name and logo (if applicable)
Trade Secrets - Proprietary algorithms and methods

Your Content Ownership

You own all content you create in Aurora, including:

Your journal entries
Your mood data
Your task lists
Your personal reflections

We do not claim ownership of your content because we cannot access it (it's stored locally on your device).

Open Source Components

Aurora is built using open-source technologies:

React Native (MIT License)
Expo (MIT License)
TypeScript (Apache 2.0 License)

We comply with all open-source licenses. Full attribution is available in the app.

User Conduct

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Aurora only for its intended purpose: emotional wellness and self-care.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

❌ Use the App to harm yourself or others ❌ Use the App in violation of any laws ❌ Share content that is illegal, harmful, or offensive ❌ Use the App to distribute malware or viruses ❌ Interfere with other users (if multi-user features exist) ❌ Attempt to hack or exploit the App ❌ Use the App for commercial purposes without permission

Consequences: We may revoke your license to use Aurora if you violate these Terms.

Updates and Modifications

App Updates

We may release updates to Aurora that:

Add new features
Fix bugs or security issues
Improve performance
Update content or design

You are not required to update, but we recommend keeping Aurora up-to-date for the best experience.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do:

Major Changes:

In-app notification on next launch
Updated "Last Updated" date at the top
30-day notice period (when possible)

Minor Changes:

Updated "Last Updated" date only

Your Continued Use: By continuing to use Aurora after Terms changes, you accept the updated Terms.

If You Disagree: Uninstall the App immediately.

Termination

Termination by You

You may stop using Aurora at any time by:

Uninstalling the App from your device
Deleting all app data

Effect: Your license to use Aurora ends immediately. All your local data will be deleted.

Termination by Us

We may terminate your license to use Aurora if:

You violate these Terms
You use the App in a harmful or illegal manner
Required by law or court order

How We Terminate:

We may revoke your ability to download future updates
We cannot delete data from your device (it's local)

Effect: You must uninstall Aurora and stop using it.

Third-Party Services

No Third Parties

Aurora does not integrate with any third-party services, including:

❌ Analytics services ❌ Advertising networks ❌ Social media platforms ❌ Cloud storage providers ❌ Payment processors (app is free)

Why? We prioritize your privacy over monetization and data collection.

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution First

If you have a dispute with us regarding Aurora, please contact us first at umituz9999@gmail.com with subject "Aurora Dispute".

We will attempt to resolve disputes informally within 30 days.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Turkey, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Jurisdiction

Any legal disputes will be resolved in the courts of Istanbul, Turkey.

For International Users: Your local consumer protection laws may provide additional rights that cannot be waived by these Terms.

Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action or collective lawsuit.

Exception: This waiver does not apply where prohibited by law (e.g., certain EU countries).

Accessibility

We are committed to making Aurora accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.

Children's Terms

Age Requirement

Aurora is intended for users 13 years and older.

If You Are Under 13: Please do not use the App. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (see Privacy Policy).

If You Are 13-17: We recommend reviewing these Terms with a parent or guardian.

Parental Responsibility: Parents should supervise their children's app usage and be aware of the mental health content.

Export Compliance

You agree not to export or re-export Aurora in violation of any applicable export laws or regulations.

Current Restrictions: None (app is free and contains no encryption)

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Aurora.

These Terms supersede any prior agreements, communications, or understandings (written or oral).

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Example: If the class action waiver is invalid in your jurisdiction, the rest of these Terms still apply.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it in the future.

Example: If we don't take action against a Terms violation, we can still enforce Terms later.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our written consent.

We may assign these Terms to:

An affiliate or subsidiary
A successor in interest (e.g., if we sell the business)
Any third party with your consent

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately uninstall Aurora and stop using it.
