1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Aria: AI Companion Chat ("the App") handles your information. Aria: AI Companion Chat is an AI companion and character chat application developed by Umit UZ where you swipe, match, and chat with AI characters.

Aria is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your chats and memories stay on your device, with optional iCloud sync across your Apple devices. The App does not require an account. Chat messages are sent to a third-party AI service only to generate replies (described below).

2. Information We Collect

Aria does not collect personal information on remote servers. Your conversations, matches, and relationship progress are stored locally on your device, with optional iCloud sync to your private database. No data leaves your device except AI chat requests (described below).

2.1 Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored exclusively on your device:

  • Conversations: Your chats with AI characters, including message history and AI memory notes
  • Matches & personas: Matched AI characters, your likes / super-likes / boosts, and character profiles (with any photos you upload)
  • Progress: XP, relationship levels, milestones, and the memory registry
  • Preferences: Display settings, selected vibes, and notification preferences
  • Subscription status: Whether you have an active Premium subscription (cached for offline access)

2.2 Keychain Storage

Your subscription status is cached in the system Keychain (Apple's secure, encrypted storage) for offline entitlement verification.

2.3 Optional iCloud Sync

Aria can sync your conversations and progress across your Apple devices using your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. This data is stored in your private iCloud database and is not accessible to the developer. You can disable iCloud sync for Aria at any time through your device's iCloud settings.

2.4 AI Chat Messages

When you chat with an AI character, your messages (plus a system prompt and your on-device conversation history) are sent to Groq (via the Groq API) over HTTPS to generate replies. No personal identity information beyond the message text, and no device identifiers, are included.

3. No Account or Login Required

Aria: AI Companion Chat does not require an account, registration, or sign-in of any kind. All functionality is accessible immediately on launch without any credentials.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Groq AI

Aria's AI characters are powered by Groq's API (Llama model). When you send a message, your chat text is sent to Groq to generate a reply. Groq's handling of this data is governed by Groq's own privacy policy. The Groq API key is the developer's bundled key.

4.2 RevenueCat

Aria uses RevenueCat for subscription management and receipt validation. Only standard Apple App Store transaction data is processed; no chat content or personal information is shared beyond what Apple provides.

5. No Analytics or Tracking

Aria: AI Companion Chat does not integrate any analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV), or third-party tracking of any kind. There are no cookies, beacons, or similar tracking mechanisms.

6. Internet Usage

Aria: AI Companion Chat requires an internet connection only for:

  • AI character chat via the Groq API
  • Subscription validation via RevenueCat (when purchasing or restoring)
  • Optional iCloud sync of your conversations and progress
  • Opening external links (privacy policy, terms, support)

Browsing your matches, saved conversations, and progress works offline. Chatting with AI, iCloud sync, and subscription purchases require an internet connection.

7. Photo Library Access

Aria requests access to your photo library only when you choose to upload a photo to your profile or a character. The App reads only the photo you select; it cannot browse your full library beyond that selection, and no photo is uploaded to any server. Permission is requested once and can be withdrawn in iOS Settings.

8. Data Sharing

Aria: AI Companion Chat does not sell, rent, share, or disclose any user data to third parties. Since no personal data is collected by the developer, there is nothing to share.

9. Children's Privacy

Aria: AI Companion Chat is not directed at children under the age of 13. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Aria is intended for adult users. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete individual conversations, characters, or reset your data from within the App. Disconnecting iCloud in iOS Settings stops further sync. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data; iCloud-synced data can be managed through your Apple iCloud settings.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
