Developer: Umit UZ (umituz9999@gmail.com)
Effective: 22 May 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Cheice ("the App") handles your information. Cheice is a chess training and education application developed by Umit UZ.
Cheice is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use its core features. All gameplay runs entirely on your device.
2. Information We Collect
Cheice does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on remote servers. No data leaves your device except for subscription validation (described below).
2.1 Locally Stored Data
The following data is stored exclusively on your device using UserDefaults:
- Onboarding completion status
- Chess goal, skill level, and pain points you selected during onboarding
- Your chosen username (up to 20 characters, freely chosen by you)
- Your preferred time control setting
- Your player rating and puzzle rating
- Number of games played
- Puzzle streak and number of puzzles solved today
- Free usage counter for premium features
- Sound and haptic preferences
- Board theme preference
- Pro status (whether you have an active subscription)
- Completed lesson IDs
- Unlocked achievement IDs
- Game history (last 100 games), including opponent name, result, rating change, time control, move count, undo count, date, and PGN notation
2.2 Keychain Storage
Your subscription status is cached in the system Keychain (Apple's secure, encrypted storage) for offline fallback. This includes a boolean flag indicating whether you are subscribed and the subscription expiration date.
2.3 Username
Usernames are freely chosen by you, stored only on your device, and never transmitted anywhere. No real name, email address, phone number, or physical address is ever collected.
3. No Account or Login Required
Cheice does not require an account, registration, or sign-in of any kind. All functionality is accessible immediately on launch without any credentials. There is no account-based feature in the App.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 RevenueCat
Cheice uses RevenueCat for subscription management and in-app purchase receipt validation. RevenueCat processes only the standard Apple App Store transaction data required to validate your subscription. No personal information, gameplay data, or device identifiers are shared with RevenueCat beyond what Apple's StoreKit provides.
4.2 ChessKit
ChessKit is an open-source library used for chess move validation and game state management. It runs entirely on your device and does not make any network connections.
4.3 Stockfish Engine
Stockfish is a local chess engine used to generate AI opponent moves. It runs entirely on your device and does not make any network connections.
5. No Analytics or Tracking
Cheice does not integrate any analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV), or third-party tracking of any kind. There are no cookies, beacons, or similar tracking mechanisms.
6. Internet Usage
Cheice requires an internet connection only for:
- Subscription validation via RevenueCat (when making or restoring a purchase)
- Opening external links you tap (support page, privacy policy, terms of service, marketing page, subscription management)
All chess gameplay, puzzles, lessons, and analysis run fully offline without any network access.
7. Data Sharing
Cheice does not sell, rent, share, or disclose any user data to third parties. Since no personal data is collected, there is nothing to share.
8. Children's Privacy
Cheice does not collect any personal information from any user, regardless of age. The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). Because no data is collected, there is no risk of unauthorized data collection from children.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. To delete all App data, you can:
- Delete the App from your device, which removes all locally stored data
- Reset the App's data through iOS Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Cheice > Delete App
No data exists on any remote server, so there is nothing to request deletion of from the developer.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be communicated within the App.
